Middletown's William Sumner served in the War under Gov. Meigs as well as Capt's Brainard and Goff from Haddam Neck. The Britt's Attacked Essex in April, 1814! But in September Thomas MacDonough fought back at Plattsburg and we won the War!

Yes, Middletown's Lt. Mansfield fought with Mexico, which brought us the Lone Star State of Texas who's capital city was named: Austin!
